Former Joint Forces Commander learns of his dismissal from media

The former Joint Forces Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Nayev, learned of the Presidential decree on his dismissal from the media, according to his Feb. 11 Telegram post.

"These were difficult times,” he wrote.

“One of the most difficult periods in the history of Ukraine. And together with you we have passed this way with dignity.”

Nayev, who had held the post since 2020, also thanked the entire Ukrainian military for their coordinated work and joint efforts, for their trust and support.

"I bow to the courage and bravery of our defenders who, with weapons in hand, defend our country every day from the insidious aggressor,” his message read.

“I bow to the fallen heroes who gave their lives for the independence and freedom of Ukraine. Eternal honor and memory to them".

He also expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian people for their patriotism and support of the army.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed new commanders of the Land Forces, the Joint Forces, the Air Assault Forces, and the Territorial Defense Forces.

Serhiy Nayev was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces in favor of Yuriy Sodol, who has been the Marine Corps commander since 2018.
