One of the best moments from the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City took place hundreds of miles away.

It came at the Cowboys’ facility when scouting director Chris Vaughn called his son, Deuce, to say he had been drafted by Dallas.

That awesome talk went viral, and the good times have continued for Deuce Vaughn, the former Kansas State star, as he’s turned heads at the Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, California.

Mario Vaughn Jr. of the “Inside The Star” blog wrote a story with the headline “Fans are underestimating Cowboys’ rookie Deuce Vaughn” because of his size.

Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram wrote a story about Vaughn, and penned this: “The best highlights from Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, Calif. thus far are that of the 5-foot-5 Vaughn running under the cleats of his teammates. Not literally. Just looks like it.”

Yes, Vaughn’s height has been a talking point (leading to some questionable headlines), but he’s made an impression on Dallas fans who have seen camp videos like these:

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is bullish on Vaughn’s abilities.

“I think he’s going to be a very talented player that can help us immediately,” Prescott said earlier this summer on The Ticket 96.7 in Dallas/Ft Worth, per NFL.com.
