Former Kent State football quarterback Collin Schlee commits to UCLA from transfer portal
When former Kent State football coach Sean Lewis left to take the offensive coordinator position at Colorado, a ripple effect took place with the Golden Flashes program as some players entered the transfer portal.
The most significant was quarterback Collin Schlee, who entered the portal the same day Lewis left.
Schlee now has a new home after committing to UCLA over the weekend.

He broke the news on Twitter with a simple graphic “committed,” with the 6-foot-3, 213-pounder holding a football in full Bruins garb.
He'll have two years of eligibility remaining.

What the UCLA quarterback depth chart looks like
Schlee is hoping to take over for Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who looks to be part of the 2023 NFL Draft class.
Thompson-Robinson threw for 2,883 yards and 25 touchdowns and also rushed for 631 yards and 11 scores. The 9-3 Bruins will compete in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 30.
Schlee’s main competition should come from freshman Justyn Martin, who hails from Inglewood, Calif.
If that name sounds familiar it should. Martin made headlines in 2021 when he set a state record with 13 passing touchdowns in a 106-0 win over rival Morningside.
An even bigger fight looms with five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who is the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2023 class. Moore (Martin Luther King/Detroit) originally was committed to Oregon, but the five-star recruit flipped his allegiance Monday.
Also in the mix is sophomore Ethan Garbers, who served as Thompson-Robinson’s backup this season.
What Kent State's quarterback depth chart looks like
Schlee was named third-team All-Mid-American Conference after a 5-7 season at Kent. He threw for 2,109 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 492 yards and five scores last season.
His exit leaves Kent State with incoming freshman Dru Deshields (West Branch), sophomores Tommy Ulatowski and Devin Kargman, senior Griffin Brewster and junior Chandler Galban on the depth chart.
