Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and quarterback of the 2019 national champion LSU Tigers, has been nominated for Best Comeback Athlete for the 2022 ESPY Awards.

Burrow was coming off of a torn ACL and MCL sustained in his rookie season in Week 11 in 2021 that sidelined him for the rest of that season. After rehabbing, Burrow helped get the Bengals to their third Super Bowl appearance in just his second season in the NFL. Cincinnati lost the Los Angeles Rams, 23-20.

Burrow established himself as a top quarterback in the league by throwing for more than 4,600 yards with 34 touchdowns in his second season.

Also nominated for the Best Comeback Athlete award for the 2022 ESPYs were Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, Baltimore Orioles first basemen Trey Mancini and Phoenix Mercury guard Diamond DeShields.
