Former mayor of Shreveport, Bo Williams, dead at 84

Robert Warren "Bo" Williams, former Shreveport mayor and city councilman has died Thursday, September 29, at age 84.

Williams was a council member for District E from 1990-1994 and mayor from 1994-1998.

Williams was born in Greenwood, Louisiana on July 21, 1938. He graduated from Greenwood High School then furthered his education at LSU, where he met his future wife Melba.

After earning a master's degree he served in the Army at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Bo and Melba, with their two young children, moved to Shreveport in 1965.

Williams is survived by his wife of 63 years, their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 2 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Visitation with friends and family will be held at 12:30 p.m. with a memorial service following at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Gladstone Community Church, 856 Gladstone Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104.
