Former Miami University pitcher called up to major leagues
A former Miami University Redhawk has been called up to the major leagues.
Former Miami Baseball standout Sam Bachman was called up Friday by the Los Angeles Angels, a spokesperson from the university said.

Bachman, a pitcher, was the ninth overall pick in the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, becoming Miami Baseball’s first-ever first-round draft pick.
While playing with the Angels’ Double-A affiliate, he has a 3-2 record with a .163 opponent batting average in six starts.

Bachman went 12-7 during his career at Miami. He had a 3.06 earned run average (ERA) and 199 strikeouts over 159 innings.
Bachman will join the Angels ahead of their home series against the Miami Marlins this weekend.
