A year after his head coach was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame, one of the most electric players in Missouri football history follows suit.

Jeremy Maclin, a long-time NFL receiver and Tigers star, was announced as a part of the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2023.

Maclin is a part of an 18-player class that also includes the likes of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, Villanova running back and Maclin's Philadelphia Eagles teammate Brian Westbrook, USC running back Reggie Bush and Tennessee safety Eric Berry.

“Cited by many as the most electrifying player to ever don a Mizzou uniform, Jeremy Maclin dazzled fans in Columbia, impacting the game on offense and special teams during one of the school’s most successful runs and becoming the only Tiger to ever be a two-time First Team All-American," College Football Hall of Fame President Steve Hatchell said in a statement. "His accomplishments place him among the best to have played the game, and there’s no doubt he deserves to be immortalized in the College Football Hall of Fame.”

Maclin's induction comes after legendary and long-time MU coach Gary Pinkel was given the same honor.

In his two-year Missouri career, Maclin caught 182 passes for 2,315 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns. Those 2,315 receiving yards rank fifth all-time at Missouri. He also scored five special teams touchdowns - twice on kick returns and three times on punt returns - as he solidified himself as one of the most dangerous weapons in college football.

Maclin holds nine of the top 20 single-game all-purpose-yard performances in Missouri football history. His career combined kick return yard average (19.7) and single-season combined kick return yards (1,346 in 2007) are MU football records.

Maclin also ranks second all-time with 10 100-yard receiving games and he owns the single-season receiving record, catching 102 passes for 1,260 yards in 2008.

"We are extremely proud to announce the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame Class," Archie Manning, National Football Foundation Chairman and a 1989 College Football Hall of Famer from Mississippi, said in a written statement. "Each of these men has established himself among the absolute best to have ever played or coached the game, and we look forward to immortalizing their incredible accomplishments."

After his college career, Maclin was drafted in the first 1st round of the 2009 NFL draft at No. 19 overall by the Eagles, where he played for five seasons before spending two seasons in Kansas City and one final season in Baltimore.

Maclin is the eighth Missouri player elected into the Hall of Fame. He's the first MU player to be elected since Kellen Winslow was elected in 2002.

Jeremy Maclin scored 17 touchdowns as a sophomore — 13 receiving, two rushing, one on a punt return and one on a kickoff return. Maclin is expected to be a first-round pick in today’s NFL draft.
