Former Mount Vernon police officer sentenced in attempted rape case
KSNF/KODE — A former Mount Vernon police officer will not go to prison in an attempted rape case.
Earlier today, 35-year-old Allen Campbell entered an Alford plea for second-degree harassment and was sentenced to unsupervised probation.
Campbell was originally charged with attempted rape, kidnapping, harassment, and stalking.
All the other charges against him were dropped.
The charges stem from an incident back in November when Campbell’s ex-girlfriend said he was drunk and after an argument, he tried to rape her.

She told police she was able to get away, but Campbell continued to harass her out in public, making her feel unsafe.
If Campbell stays out of trouble for two years, the conviction will no longer appear on his record.
