Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair’s sister was charged in federal court on Monday after she allegedly threatened a woman who was set to testify against Sebastian at his gun possession trial in New York, according to the Associated Press.

Telfair, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft, was arrested in Brooklyn, New York, in June 2017 after police pulled him over for driving without his headlights on. Police found multiple weapons, ammunition and marijuana in the car. He initially pled not guilty, but was found guilty on a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon last month.

He is expected to be sentenced in June, and is reportedly facing up to 15 years in prison.

Sebastian’s sister, Octavia Telfair, allegedly made “threatening phone calls” to one of the witnesses in his trial not long after the guilty verdict was announced. According to the Associated Press, Octavia told the unnamed witness that she was either “gonna die” or going to live with a “rearranged face.”

Octavia was charged in federal court in Brooklyn for transmitting an interstate threat, and was released on $100,000 bail, per the report. She is subject to home detention and must wear an ankle bracelet.

Sebastian played for eight teams over his 10 seasons in the NBA before his career ended in 2015. He averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 rebounds throughout his career. He has had multiple legal issues since his playing career ended, including being sued by American Express over unpaid credit card debt. He also had a restraining order placed again him in 2018 by his estranged wife and children after he allegedly smashed a car window outside of her house.
