Former NFL Player Brendan Langley is facing assault charges following a physical altercation captured on video with a Newark Liberty International Airport worker last week.

The now-viral video appears to start mid-fight with the airport employee punching the ex-Denver Broncos cornerback in the face. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.

You can hear Langley ask people around, “You saw that s**t ?” before striking the employee back. The United Airlines employee then falls to the ground and once back up, his face is covered in blood.

Langley is now facing simple assault charges, a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey tells The Washington Post.

The airport employee, whose name has not been released, is now out of a job after being fired.

He worked for United Ground Express, a company that supports airport operations.

“United Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind at our airports or on board our planes,” a United Airlines spokesperson told The Washington Post. “We are working with local authorities in their investigation of this matter.”

What Led To The Fight?

The Daily Mail reports that the fight started over a $5 luggage cart. Langely reportedly refused to pay for a cart and used a wheelchair instead.

Langley, however, is claiming self-defense stating that the employee followed him.

He also says other airport employees did nothing to help de-escalate the incident.

It’s unclear why the employee is not facing charges as well. This story is developing.
