Former Oconee County star West Weeks announces transfer to SEC school
Less than two weeks after entering the NCAA transfer portal, West Weeks has a new college football home.
The former Oconee County three-star linebacker announced Saturday night that he's transferring to LSU after a year at Virginia.
"Thankful!!" Weeks said in a tweet Saturday. "Let's Work!! #GeauxTigers"
Weeks announced on Twitter Jan. 3 that he was planning to transfer from Charlottesville.
"To the University of Virginia, thank you," the tweet read. "To my coaches and teammates, thank you for the relationships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. After a lot of prayer and conversations with my family, I will be entering the transfer portal."
Plenty of suitors reached out to Weeks with offers, including Southern California and South Carolina, but LSU won the Weeks battle. Weeks took a midweek visit to Baton Rouge during the week and was scheduled to visit Columbia, South Carolina this weekend before making his commitment.
In 11 games with the Cavaliers, Weeks had 31 tackles, a sack and five pass break-ups.
