Former officer at Burlington County Jail accused of selling contraband

MOUNT HOLLY – A former corrections officer is accused of supplying an inmate at Burlington County Jail with tobacco and marijuana.

Abraham Olmedia, 27, of Burlington Township, allegedly collected payment for the contraband items from one of the inmate’s relatives, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

An investigation began earlier this year after a corrections officer smelled tobacco smoke coming from a cell, the prosecutor’s office said.

Olmedia, a corrections officer for a little more than two years, resigned after the investigation began.
