Former Ohio State football WRs Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave make history in rookie NFL seasons

It didn't take long for Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave to find their stride in the NFL.

After being selected as back-to-back picks by the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints in the 2022 NFL draft last April from Ohio State, both Wilson and Olave became the first pair of receivers from the same school to top 1,000 yards as rookies in NFL history.

Wilson, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, came into the Jets' final game of the regular season against the Dolphins already with more than 1,000 receiving yards and added 89 yards on nine receptions to finish with 1,103 receiving yards on 83 receptions with four touchdowns.

Wilson's total was 539 more receiving yards than any other New York Jets receiver, and he led all rookies in receiving yards and receptions.

Coming into the Saints' final game against the Carolina Panthers with 982 receiving yards, Olave, the No. 11 pick in the NFL draft, paced the offense with five catches for 60 yards, including the team's only touchdown of the day: a 25-yard score from quarterback Andy Dalton.

Olave finished his first season leading the Saints in receptions (72) and receiving yards (1,042). He had four touchdown catches in 2022.

With Ohio State, Olave set a school record with 35 receiving touchdowns — fourth-most in Big Ten history — while ranking top-five in school history with 176 receptions and 2,711 receiving yards.

Wilson, a former first-team All-American, finished his Ohio State career with 2,213 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns on 143 catches.
