MIAMI, Fla. (WFRV) – The Miami Dolphins have reportedly hired former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry to their coaching staff.

As reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Barry is joining the Dolphins as their linebackers coach and run game coordinator despite leading the Packers to a 28th-worse opponent rushing yards per game (127.1). Only the New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals were worse.

Here’s why Green Bay has never and likely will never host a Super Bowl:

Barry’s hiring comes less than two weeks after the Packers parted ways with him following three seasons. Green Bay’s defense did perform well in Super Wild Card Weekend after shocking the 2-seeded Dallas Cowboys, but Barry’s tenure in Green Bay was often criticized heavily.

Barry will work under the Dolphins’ newest defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, who served as assistant head coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

For the latest on the Green Bay Packers:

As for Green Bay, the team recently filled Barry’s position with Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley. Ironically, Green Bay also reportedly hired former Miami Dolphins linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, and he will serve as the Packers linebackers coach and run game coordinator.

Campanile helped Miami achieve the 7th-best opponent rushing yards per game with 99.8. Only seven teams had allowed double-digit rushing yards.
