Former Panthers players prep podcast blitz with Hollywood assist

Ryan Kalil and Greg Olsen spent eight seasons as teammates with the Carolina Panthers, including multiple Pro Bowl appearances and key roles on the 2015 team that reached Super Bowl 50.

They were part of a popular Panthers core during the 2010s that included Cam Newton, Steve Smith, Thomas Davis, Jordan Gross and Josh Norman, among others.

Now, Kalil and Olsen, who retired from the NFL in 2019 and 2020, respectively, are again working together — this time as business partners. Kalil and Olsen, with actor Vince Vaughn and Los Angeles media venture firm Powerhouse Capital, this year started a podcast and video company called Audiorama.

Olsen, now a Fox Sports analyst on NFL games, still lives in Charlotte, while Kalil moved back to his native Southern California after his final season in 2019. Kalil played 12 of his 13 NFL seasons with Carolina; his final season was with the New York Jets.

During separate recent interviews with CBJ, Kalil and Olsen explained their motivation for starting a company together as well as the challenges of trying to break through in a crowded field of podcasts. They declined to disclose start-up costs, revenue or projected profitability but said that they are confident financial success will follow creative success.
