Former Peanut Festival beauty queen accused of killing toddler released on bond

DONALSONVILLE, Ga. (WDHN) — An 18-year-old pageant winner and Georgia college student charged in the death of her boyfriend’s child has been released from the Sumter County Jail.

Trinity Madison Poague is charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Battery, and First Degree Cruelty to Children in the death of an 18-month-old boy.

Poague, 18, was released from the Sumter County Jail on a $75,000 bond Wednesday night.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Poague can leave the county but must wear an ankle monitor.

Sumter County Coroner Mathis Wright identified the boy as Romeo Angles not long after the death and revealed he suffered blunt-force trauma and was pronounced dead at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia.

The coroner revealed to WDHN that Poague was dating Angles’ supposed father, but the child’s birth certificate does not name anyone as the biological father.

Previous media reports claim Wright’s office said Angles sustained his fatal injuries in a dorm room of the Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia, but Wright disputed these claims, saying his office is not sure where the alleged crime took place.
