"We are excited to have Ali join our staff in this capacity after such a successful collegiate career," IU head coach Teri Moren said in the program's press release. "She has always expressed her desire to pursue a career in college coaching and we are happy she can begin that journey here. Ali is a true competitor who has helped us build this program and is a fantastic person that will impact our players on and off the court. We are looking forward to seeing her transition into a member of our staff."

Patberg wrapped up her seven year collegiate career this year, with her first two years coming at Notre Dame. She sat out her third season after transferring to Indiana.

Moren alluded to a potential future in coaching for Patberg after the Hoosiers lost to UConn in the Sweet 16 in March.

She was drafted by the Indiana Fever in the third round of the WNBA Draft in April, becoming the first IU draftee since 2011 and the fourth all-time.

Patberg finished her career with 1,752 points, good for ninth on IU's all-time scoring list. She also ranked eighth in career points per game with 14.2, ninth in 3-point percentage at 34.9 percent, third in assists with 528 — one of three players in program history to top 500 assists.

She was also one of three players in IU history to earn four all-Big Ten selections.

The Hoosiers still have an opening on the staff for an assistant coach, after Ashley Williams returned to North Carolina State earlier this week.
