Former postal worker admits embezzling packages for cash, feds say

A former Cincinnati-area postal worker admitted in federal court on Thursday to embezzling mail packages for profit, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

Kerry Beech Jr., 31, was employed with the U.S. Postal Service from 2013 to 2021 and most recently worked at the Parkdale Post Office on Northland Boulevard, federal prosecutors said in a news release.

In 2020, Beech embezzled at least 28 packages, prosecutors said. On each occasion, he was paid $500 to intercept certain packages from the mail system and hand deliver them to another person.

Prosecutors say four of the packages, which contained fentanyl and methamphetamine, were seized by federal agents.

The agents also searched Beech's vehicle and found $4,500 in cash and a loaded handgun, according to the release.

Beech was charged in September. He faces a possible sentence of up to five years in prison, prosecutors said.
