Mar. 1—March 1:

Pork and homemade sauerkraut take-out dinner, Bausman United Church of Christ, 1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing. Pick up is from 4-6 p.m. on March 4. Most items are free. Featured items vary by month (depending on donations) but frequently include clothing for women, men and children, shoes, handbags, jewelry, etc. Anyone looking to donate used items to this ministry can do so during boutique hours.

—Winter wellness walk, Berks Leisure Area, 1901 Tulpehocken Road, Spring Township, 9 a.m. Join Berks County Parks staff for an hour-long brisk walk on the Union Canal Trail.

—Volunteer open house, Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Bern Township, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Learn more about volunteering for the Berks County Park system. Energetic volunteers needed in a variety of roles.

March 5:

—Historic Dreibelbis Farm near Virginville will hold a wintertime nature walk at 2 p.m. Participants will trek into the fields and nature trail with a focus on wood duck habitat and all that's involved in maintenance of wood duck nesting boxes. There is no charge to take part in the event, which will be held rain or shine barring an absolute downpour or blizzard conditions. The rain/snow date is March 12. This program is part of the Society's participation in the 300th anniversary of the Tulpehocken Settlement. Presenter Mike Emery of Reading is the museum educator at Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum in Lancaster and has a special interest in tombstones and historical architecture. Several of his examples can be found in the church cemetery.
