Former Royals star Danny Duffy is having his famous bear suit auctioned for charity

I’m not sure there is such a thing as a most iconic question in Royals history but this might be it:

“What are you wearing?”

Bally Sports Kansas City’s Joel Goldberg asked that question of pitcher Danny Duffy after the Royals won the 2015 American League Central division.

Duffy noted it’s a bear suit (one that he bought on Amazon after seeing it on the TV show, “Workaholics”).

“I had it from last year, I had to keep the tradition going,” Duffy told Goldberg at the time. “I’ve got to do it for the boys. That’s what we got. That’s it. For sure.

“Fur sure.”

Duffy’s fashion choice that day tickled Royals fans, and now one of those fans could own the suit.

The clothing company Charlie Hustle said Duffy had donated the bear suit for its Holiday Sports Auction. The sale will benefit the Heart of KC foundation.

One question that remains unanswered: did Duffy clean the suit. In a 2017 interview, Duffy said he had no plans to wash it.

“No, it still smells like old champagne,” Duffy said. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Bidding for the suit ends on Dec. 6 at midnight. As of Wednesday morning, the top bid was $1,200. You can bid here.

Duffy, 34, pitched in the Texas Rangers’ minor-league system this year. He had a 3.28 ERA in 28 games between Double-A and Triple-A with 42 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings.
