Former Seminole, UCF star and Buffalo Bills WR Gabriel Davis signs contract with Nike

Gabriel Davis has hit plenty of milestones in his young football career, and he marked another one off his checklist Saturday.

The Buffalo Bills wide receiver inked a contract to represent Nike, a dream partnership for most young athletes aspiring to become stars at the professional level.

“I just go out there and play ball to the best of my ability and I feel like everything else will come my way ... whatever I want, whatever I need, so I try not to think about anything else but football and then I know everything else will fall into place,” Davis said. “A big endorsement like Nike is always good when you can sign with a company like that.”

Davis accomplished his biggest feat as a rookie this past season when he starred for the NFL’s AFC Eastern Division champion Bills, who fell one victory shy of the Super Bowl. Signing a contract with Nike, the world leader in athletic apparel, is like a stamp of stardom in the sports world.

“I’ve worn Nike all my life, and me being able to be a part of their program is awesome. I love Nike, always wore it and nothing was ever better for me,” Davis said. “I feel like I work my butt off and deserve it and I’m happy to be a part of the Nike family.”

Davis started his NFL career with 35 catches for 599 yards and seven touchdowns this past season, playing as No. 3 receiver behind All-Pro Stefon Diggs and third-down specialist Cole Beasley. Davis averaged a team-high 17.1 yards per catch. He also had four catches for 85 yards in the postseason.

He also had an impressive three-year career at UCF and was part of the team that won 25 games in a row at one point. At UCF, Davis had 152 catches for 2,447 yards and 23 touchdowns, second most in UCF history. He also holds the UCF season record for receiving yards with 1,241 in his final year 2019.

Coming out of Sanford, Davis was not highly recruited, committing to UCF over schools like Appalachian State, FAU and USF. He had just 12 scholarship offers and none of them were from a Power Five program.

Since signing his NFL contract with the Bills last year, Davis has made philanthropy a big part of his life. He enjoys giving back to his Sanford community and reaching out to many of those in need.

“I really realized it when I started training at the orthotics center [Prosthetics and Orthotics Associates] in Orlando,” Davis said. “You just see these kids with no arms and no legs and you feel for these kids. We sit around and complain about the smallest things in life, and they’re over here just trying to walk.

“So it made me understand that life’s way more important ... like we’re not important, ourselves, and that’s why I want to give back and help people in the best ways that I can. I know I have the opportunity to do it and it makes me feel 10 times better to be able to do that.”
