Former Phoenix Shadow Mountain High School coach Mike Bibby has been named head coach and senior strategist for Fan Controlled Hoops (FCH), a new basketball league, it was announced.

This will be the first season for FCH. Bibby will be coaching all four of the teams. Ryan Blake, a veteran NBA scout, will serve as the director of scouting. Bibby joins a front office with former NBA player Baron Davis and former NBAPA Executive Director Michelle Roberts.

The league will begin Feb. 7 in Atlanta, bring an interactive format from Fan Controlled Football with four against four, real-tie fan interactivity that includes an LED court that will allow viewers a chance to control the game.

"It's kind of like a real-life NBA Jam," Bibby said. "A four-on-four league. The court will light up with the LED. Fans will be able to highlight players, highlight parts of the court."

Bibby, who led Arizona to the NCAA championship as a freshman point guard in 1997 and spent 14 years in the NBA, said there is a chance he'll be coaching his son again.

He said that Michael Bibby, who starred for his dad on the 2015-16 state championship team at Shadow Mountain, where he was The Arizona Republic's Player of the Year, will be playing in the league. Michael Bibby played at South Florida and Appalachian State.

Michael is helping coach basketball at Scottsdale Desert Mountain this season. Desert Mountain is starting its own House basketball era with the younger brothers of former Shadow Mountain standout Jaelen House — twins Kaden and Kalek — who are freshman at Desert Mountain. They are the sons of former Arizona State and NBA guard Eddie House, who is Mike Bibby's brother-in-law.

"He'll probably play in this," Mike said of his son. "Get him back in the basketball training camp. He'll be at Desert Mountain until the league."

Bibby will have other coaches with him working with the four teams, but he'll be in the lead for all four teams. He said that players involved in this league are mostly former college players, from Division I to III, former NBA players, players just out of college and didn't make the G League and are trying to make their way up.

"Hopefully, this will give them a chance to get an extra look," Bibby said.
