Later in the meeting, MPC Executive Director Alan Clarke asked the Shreveport City Council consider enhancing their MPC funding.

"We've had some real talks Councilman Green and in those real talk meetings we've talked about how certain elements of the city, we're not recognizing and saving the history of these particular sections of the city," Clarke said.

"That's going to take some funding," Clarke added.

Clarke said the MPC's 2030 master plan was well done but may be outdated now largely because of Shreveport's changes since the master plan was created in 2009.

"We hoped that as a staff we could do that function but...it is just an overwhelming function because of the changes that have occurred," Clarke added.

"As we go into the budget period, we will be asking you keep an open mind," Clarke said.

"He's asking for money," Councilwoman LeVette Fuller pointed out, to which Clarke confirmed.

"If you think about it, we haven't asked for anything in the last three years," Clarke added.
