Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
A historic Savannah school building on 38th Street that has been vacant since 2014 is getting a new purpose: residential housing. The former site of St. Paul's Academy for Boys was originally built in 1900, and now its 122-year-old classrooms will be converted into 27 apartment units. Developers stated they hope to be completed with the $3 million renovations by Fall 2022. (WTOC)
After last week's St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the Savannah Police Department has announced the results of its holiday operations. Over the four-day period of city festivities, the SPD made just 17 arrests in the operation zone and another 17 DUI arrests. "The majority of the visitors were well behaved and enjoyed themselves without excessive over-indulgence or illegal activity," said Chief Roy Minter. "We hope to continue to see this trend with future crowds." (Press Release Desk )
