Former Sullivan prison nurse accused of providing drugs, sex to inmate in Fallsburg

A former nurse at Sullivan Correctional Facility has been accused of providing drugs to an inmate with whom she was allegedly having sex.

State police arrested Kristie Miller on Thursday and accused the 51-year-old of distributing buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films to an inmate at the men's maximum-security prison in Fallsburg.

Those drugs are contained in Suboxone, a prescription medicine used to treat opioid addiction, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Investigators also learned that Miller was involved in a sexual relationship with the same inmate, police said.

Police investigated with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations. DOCCS said Miller was hired in January 2018 and fired on June 14, 2021.

Miller was charged with third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sex act, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and first-degree prison contraband, all felonies.

Police said she is a Fallsburg resident, though her nursing license lists a Grahamsville address.

Miller was arraigned in Liberty Town Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of bail. It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer representing her, or when she is due back in court.

Liberty Town Court officials would not provide any details and said the case is now being handled by Fallsburg Town Court, which refused to provide any information about the case over the phone.
