Former Tarrant County elections chief lands job at top government elections agency

Former Tarrant County elections administrator Heider Garcia has landed a job at the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission.

The EAC, established after the Help America Vote Act was passed in 2002, works with elections offices across the country to provide assistance with elections administration and to help people participate in voting.

In his new role, Garcia will be working as a senior subject matter expert, he wrote on Twitter on Friday morning. He begins the job Monday.

“I’m thrilled to join a such a great team, and excited about the opportunity to continue contributing to fair and secure elections, this time at a national level,” Garcia wrote.

Garcia resigned from his position in Tarrant County in a letter dated April 16. In that letter, he cited a meeting with county judge Tim O’Hare and their disagreements over how to run transparent elections as the reason for his departure.

the Tarrant County Election Commission hired Clint Ludwig, the county’s chief deputy clerk, as the new elections administrator. Ludwig will start July 31.
