Shaun Cassidy went from teen idol to big-time television producer, a story arc that only Hollywood could create.

Now the writer, producer, actor and singer takes on Des Moines when he plays June 17 at Hoyt Sherman Place, 1501 Woodland Ave.

The heartthrob was born into the limelight in 1958, the son of actors Jack Cassidy and Shirley Jones. He got his big break in 1977 when he started releasing albums that included his remake of "Da Doo Ron Ron," "That's Rock 'n' Roll," "Hey Deanie" and "Do You Believe In Magic?"

Shaun Cassidy also had a starring role in the 1977-79 TV series “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries” with co-star Parker Stevenson.

After solving mysteries and singing on stage, Cassidy went on to create, write and produce television shows, including “American Gothic” produced with Sam Raimi, “Roar” starring a little known Heath Ledger, “Cold Case,” “Cover Me,” “The Agency,” “Blue Bloods,” “Invasion” and “Emerald City.” Currently, Cassidy works as the executive producer and writer for NBC's “New Amsterdam.”

He starred in the musical “Blood Brothers” with his equally famous half-brother David Cassidy, who died in 2017. Shaun Cassidy even toured with his one-man musical and story-telling show “The Magic of a Midnight Sky” that he wrote in 2019.

Alas, in Des Moines, Cassidy plans to stick to singing on stage. Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Hoyt Sherman Box Office and via ticketmaster.com. Tickets start at $35.
