1. Former Charlotte congregation president pleads guilty to child pornography charge
The former president of a Charlotte congregation was sentenced to two years of probation today.
Even Roy Wilkoff plead guilty to a child pornography charge and will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years. Wilkoff served as president of Temple Beth El for two years until June 2020.

2. Bank of America CEO’s 2022 compensation dips to $30M, new filing shows
The 2022 salary for the CEO of Bank of America took a hit, recent filings show.
Brian Moynihan’s total compensation for last year dipped by 6% according to a recent secrities filing from the Charlotte-based bank. The bank’s board approved $30 million in total compensation for Moynihan last year, compared to $32 million in 2021.

3. Charlotte church pairs community services with affordable housing plan
A local church is making an effort create affordable housing in its community.
The members of Hidden Valley church on West Sugar Creek Road have witnessed how the lack of decent housing often hinders many families from finding a permanent place to live. That will change for some families without homes once construction on Sugree Place, a 51-unit complex, is completed.

In today’s installment of our “On Background” series we spotlight one of our Carolina Panthers beat reporters, Mike Kaye.
Mike joined the Charlotte Observer last September after previously covering the NFL for Pro Football Network. He’s also covered the Philadelphia Eagles for NJ Advance Media and the Jacksonville Jaguars for First Coast News.
A graduate of the University of North Florida, he’s been involved in journalism — including television and digital production — since 2011.
Some of Mike’s proudest career moments came when he covered an NFL game in London at Wembley Stadium and the AFC Championship Game in 2018.
