Former TN corrections officer sentenced for covering up excessive force
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Tennessee Department of Corrections officer was sentenced to 15 months in prison after writing a false report to cover up another officer’s use of excessive force, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Sebron Hollands, who was a tactical officer at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, was also sentenced to two years of supervised release following the prison sentence.
He previously pled guilty on October 2, 2023.
According to court documents, Hollands was present when fellow tactical officer Javian Griffin punched an inmate in the head, breaking the inmate’s jaw. The documents state that the inmate did not resist or pose a threat that justified the use of force.

After the incident, Hollands provided false information in his official use of force report to obstruct the FBI’s investigation of the incident, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Griffin previously pled guilty to using excessive force against an inmate on October 11, 2023.
