Former UCF star Bruce Miller signs with Jaguars

Former UCF star Bruce Miller has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending almost five years out of the NFL due to off-the-field legal issues.

Miller, a two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year selection who helped lead the Knights to a 2010 Liberty Bowl win over Georgia, switched to fullback in the NFL and was productive in San Francisco before he ran into legal issues.

He was arrested in Santa Clara, Calif., in March 2015 and charged with suspicion of domestic assault after his former fiancée accused him of shoving her and destroying her cell phone during an argument. Miller pleaded no contest to misdemeanor disturbing the peace and was sentenced to a 16-week anti-domestic violence course.

The 49ers stuck with Miller, but he was cut shortly before the start of the 2016 season after he was charged with seven felonies. He was accused of assaulting an elderly man and his son. Witnesses testified Miller was intoxicated and attacked the men, including one who was 70, with the man’s cane and threatened his elderly wife. Miller reportedly was disoriented and thought they had entered his hotel room when actually he was trying enter their hotel room.
