Former UConn star Katie Lou Samuelson announces she’s pregnant

Former UConn women’s basketball star Katie Lou Samuelson announced her pregnancy on Instagram Friday.

Samuelson, a forward for the Los Angeles Sparks, and fiancé Devin Cannady, who currently plays for the G League’s South Bay Lakers, are expecting a baby in August 2023.

“We are excited to share such amazing and exciting news with you all!” Samuelson posted. “Life is full of surprises and 2023 surprised us in the best way possible! We can’t wait to welcome the newest member of our family!”

Samuelson played for UConn from 2015 to 2019, establishing herself as a 3-point specialist. She was drafted fourth overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft.

Former Huskies Napheesa Collier and Maya Moore both had babies over the past year as the UConn family continues to grow.
