It has a new name, but a restaurant in West Allis has the same chef and essentially the same menu.

And it's in the same spot.

Su Plus Two Restaurant & Bar, 7028 W. Greenfield Ave., is serving diners in the same space that used to house Urban Joe Café & Bar.

Urban Joe owner Joe Tairi sold his business earlier this year and a new ownership group — including the existing chef — took over, Jose Cisneros said.

"We took over back in May," Cisneros said. "My brother (Carlos Cisneros) was working here for the previous owner, so that's the reason the menu stayed the same."

Chef Carlos and Jose are the "Plus Two" part of the name. The Su is Supawadee Pamoto, Jose's wife, known better as Su.

Carlos runs the kitchen, including planning, preparation and cooking. Su handles accounting, paperwork and front-of-the-house business. Jose also helps with management and front-of-the-house tasks, including making drinks and waiting on tables.

Those familiar with Urban Joe's will recognize the mainstays of the Su Plus Two menu: salads, wraps, paninis, sandwiches, soups, crepes, breakfast burritos and omelets, along with premium Valentine coffees and other beverages.

Jose said they changed the business's name and logo around the time of the Wisconsin State Fair.

The West Allis Downtown BID welcomed Su Plus Two to the community with a Nov. 9 ribbon-cutting.

"You may have visited Urban Joe’s in the past," West Allis Mayor Dan Devine said in a Facebook post. "Same great chef, delicious menu and friendly service in the same location. Congrats Su, Carlos and Jose."

About 20%-30% of the eatery's customers are holdovers from the Urban Joe days, Jose said.

"The rest is new customers; they've been finding us through Facebook and the fact that we're open late at night, too," he said.

The evening hours are a change. Urban Joe closed earlier, so Jose said they're able to attract additional customers by being open later.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Jose said it's a family-oriented business, and they do their best to make customers feel at home.

"We're pretty quick bringing out the food, and the way that we take care of people, it's just like as close as we can do to make them feel comfortable and welcoming."
