Former USC commit and 3-star RB DeAnthony Gatson commits to Louisiana Tech football

Three-star running back DeAnthony Gatson of Newton, Texas, committed to Louisiana Tech on Monday. He can sign with the Bulldogs on Feb. 2.

Back when Gatson originally was making his commitment, he was choosing between the Southern Cal, Colorado, Iowa State, Minnesota and Texas.

Gatson originally committed to USC but decommitted Sept. 20.

The 5-foot-10, 198-pound running back is the No. 526 ranked player in the class of 2022 and the No. 41 running back and No. 71 player from Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite. Gatson rushed for 5,494 yards on 554 carries with 80 touchdowns. His best season was his junior campaign, when he rushed for 1,974 yards in 10 games on 161 carries with 29 touchdowns.

Gatson averaged more than 12 yards per carry in his junior season, earning Texas District 12-3A D-II Overall MVP honors.

Tech is losing Marcus Williams Jr., who rushed 194 times for 792 yards and eight touchdowns last season, to the NFL Draft and NCAA eligibility.
