Former USC WR Gary Bryant’s weekend visit to Texas A&M could not come at a better time

Texas A&M is hosting a number of recruits in the 2024 and 2025 recruiting class this weekend in the midst of spring football practice, including one member of the transfer portal, former USC wide receiver, Gary Bryant Jr.

Bryant, a member of the 2020 recruiting class, was ranked as the 46th prospect and 7th wide receiver in the country, and 5th wide receiver in the state of California. After two seasons with the trojans, including the chaotic COVID-inflicted 2020 season, Bryant’s most productive year came in 2021, recording 579 yards on 44 receptions and seven total touchdowns, and also participating in kick returns.

After the 2022 season in which he only played in 3 games among one of the more loaded wide receiver depth charts in the nation, the talented speedster is looking for a fresh start in 2023. After officially transferring on Jan 9th, Texas A&M, Oregon, Stanford, and Miami quickly became the primary potential transfer destinations for Bryant, and after visiting the Ducks on March 5th, Bryant made his way to College Station on Friday for his official weekend visit to the Aggies, which will hopefully seal the deal for the Corona, Californa native.

Bryant’s visit comes at the perfect time for Texas A&M due to the unknown circumstances regarding UTEP transfer wide receiver Tyrin Smith’s future with the program after Head coach Jimbo Fisher noted that Smith has the chance to return to UTEP, and has not made up his mind up this spring.

The Aggies are equipped with one of the more lethal starting receiver units going into next season, yet depth remains an issue, and Gary Bryant could be the final piece to the puzzle for a team looking to rebound in a big way in 2023.
