Former USU football player allegedly drove intoxicated onto field, police found him doing yoga on 50-yard line

LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — A former Utah State University football player is facing charges after he allegedly drove intoxicated Tuesday onto the Maverick Stadium field to dance and do yoga.

Kevin Andrew Whimpey, 33, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, criminal trespass, possession of a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, all class B misdemeanors, Utah State University Police said.

On Tuesday, USU Police arrived to Maverick Stadium after reports that a man drove onto the field and began to dance, the affidavit states. Officers arrived and approached the man, who at this point was kneeling on a yoga mat located near the 50-yard-line.

Officers said the man was compliant and identified himself as Whimpey.

Whimpey allegedly told officers he had used ketamine and had marijuana in a bag on the field.

Officers searched his backpack and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and prescription bottles in his name. Police also found an ankle monitor on Whimpey’s leg and learned he is on probation with Adult Probation and Parole for charges out of Utah County, the affidavit states.

Whimpey was placed under arrest and transported to the Cache County Jail.
