Former Wisconsin, Marquette, UW-Milwaukee basketball stars to clash for charity during Summerfest

Several former stars of Wisconsin college basketball will participate during Summerfest in a first-of-its-kind "Alumni Charity Challenge," with former University of Wisconsin, Marquette University and UW-Milwaukee standouts taking part.
On July 8 at the Gruber Law Offices Sportszone near mid-gate on the Summerfest campus, players from each university will meet in a series of shooting competitions, with the winning team delivering the biggest prize to the charity of its choice,
The Badgers will be supporting Garding Against Cancer, Marquette will support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and UWM will support the MACC Fund.
Ex-Marquette players Travis Diener and Steve Novak will compete for the Golden Eagles, with a third player as-yet unannounced to join them.
Both Wisconsin natives played on the 2003 team that reached the Final Four, ranking among the best shooters in program history (Novak's career mark of .461 remains the best in MU lore). Novak went on to play 11 years in the NBA, including briefly for the Milwaukee Bucks, and Diener played five seasons in the NBA.
Wisconsin representatives will be Ben Brust, Brevin Pritzl and a third player to be announced. Brust played on the 2014 Badgers team that reached the Final Four and can be heard as a color commentator on Milwaukee Bucks radio broadcasts or on a radio show for ESPN Madison and ESPN Milwaukee.
Former UWM players Joah Tucker, Ed McCants and Clay Tucker will represent the Panthers. Clay Tucker appeared on the 2003 Panthers team that reached the NCAA Tournament, McCants on the 2005 team that reached the Sweet 16 and Joah Tucker on both the 2005 and 2006 team that won a first-round game.
Each of the three rounds of shooting competition will net the winning team 100 points. The team entering the competition with the highest number of donations will receive 50 points. The team entering the competition with the most money raised will also receive 50 points.
The winning team’s charity partner will receive 60% of the funds, with 20% to each of the other squads' charities.
Those who donate $10 or more in advance of the competition will receive a free Summerfest ticket valid for entry from noon to 4 p.m. Donations can be made at the Alumni Charity Challenge web page established at Summerfest.com.
