East Hill Christian School's new athletic director Vince Smith means business.

With his first move in the position, he has hired former University of Georgia and Charlotte Sting basketball player Angie Watson as the team's next head coach. Angie is also known throughout the community as the wife of Milton native and legendary professional golfer, Bubba Watson.

She'll be taking the reigns of a team which, according to MaxPreps, hasn't won a contest since January 15, 2021. This past season, the squad went 0-13 with it's closest margin of defeat being 12 points.

However, her basketball pedigree might once again make the Eagles competitive in the Panhandle Christian Conference. Known in international basketball circles, Watson has been a winner at every level she's played at.

In Athens with the Lady Bulldogs, her teams won SEC championships two of her four years while qualifying for the NCAA Tournament all four seasons. In her junior campaign, Watson and company reached the Final Four.

From there, Watson was a member of the 2000 Canadian National Team as she was born in Toronto. She played for the WNBA's Charlotte Sting in 2001 where the franchise finished at the league's runner up. The new head coach also played overseas, making stops all across Italy and France.

As a coach, Watson acted as a counselor at UGA basketball camps during her playing time from 1996-2000. She later took that teaching passion to the collegiate ranks following her pro career, becoming an assistant coach at DII Shorter University, member of the Gulf South Conference with the University of West Florida.

Through a press release, East Hill said, "Watson’s intercollegiate and professional playing experience, coupled with her coaching expertise, makes her in ideal addition to EHCS’s coaching staff as EHCS continues to educate students morally, intellectually, and physically, based on the Word of God, in a loving, Christian environment."
