Ahead of the November 2022 election, Fort Collins, Larimer County and Northern Colorado voters can hear directly from candidates and learn more about ballot issues through planned public forums.

Thursday, Sept. 29

Candidate forum organized by the League of Women Voters of Larimer County, 7-9 p.m., Fort Collins City Council chambers, 300 Laporte Ave.; on Channel 14 (Comcast or Connexion) or live streamed at www.fcgov.com/fctv.   • Larimer County commissioner District 1 candidates: Justin Smith (R) and John Kefalas (D)

  • Larimer County clerk and recorder candidates: Toni Baker (D) and Angela Myers (R)

  • Larimer County coroner candidates: Stephen Hanks (D) and Matt Canaga (R)

  • Unopposed Republican candidates for Larimer County sheriff (John Feyen), treasurer (Irene Josey) and surveyor (Tom Donnelly) have been invited to attend at a meet and greet after the forum.

Wednesday, Oct. 12

Exploring Democratic Reforms and 2022 Ballot Preview, 4 to 6 p.m., on the Colorado State University campus. Topics are alternative voting methods and ranked choice voting, City Council compensation and pay, election reforms and third parties. (Three of these issues are on the November ballot for Fort Collins voters.) Panelists are Sam Houghteling, program manager of the Straayer Center for Public Service Leadership at CSU; Ann Hutchison, executive director of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce; Melanie Potyondy, former City Council member; and Steve Yurash, third party candidate for Congress. Virtual candidate forum for Colorado General Assembly and Larimer County races, hosted by The Partnership for Age-Friendly Communities (PAFC) and the Larimer County Office on Aging Advisory Council, 6 to 8 p.m. Hear directly from the candidates about the issues impacting older adults. The Scoop: NoCo Community Conversations, will provide an innovative public forum exploring the city of Fort Collins ranked choice voting ballot issue. 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Old Town Library, 201 Peterson St. Organized by the Deliberative Journalism Project.
