Fort Collins names deputy city manager finalists, announces community forum

Fort Collins’ city manager’s office is on its way back to having a full roster.

The city announced three finalists for the role of deputy city manager on Monday: assistant city manager for the city of Boulder Pam Davis, current interim deputy city manager in Fort Collins Tyler Marr and assistant city manager for Santa Rosa, California, Jason Nutt.

The finalists will participate in interviews and other events with city council, staff and community stakeholders next week. A community forum is happening Monday, Oct. 10, from 4-5 p.m. at City Hall and online at https://youtu.be/WBdV4bYoKMI.

Community members can submit questions for the candidates that may be asked in the panel interviews of the forum at https://ourcity.fcgov.com/dcm.

The role of deputy city manager has a variety of departments and services to oversee and works with the city manager and council to address matters outside of the city government. The position also works to implement a strategic plan and manage internal operations, according to the job description.

Fort Collins has been searching for a deputy city manager since the summer, shortly after deputy city manager Kyle Stannert announced he was leaving. The city used to have two deputy city managers, including now-city manager Kelly DiMartino, but is restructuring back to a one-deputy system, according to lead communications specialist Amy Resseguie.

Davis — currently working in Boulder, where she's been for four years — also has experience working in city government in Goodyear, Arizona, and Sierra Vista, Arizona. Working in Fort Collins wouldn’t be completely new to her, however, as she served as a management assistant for the city for about a year in 2013 and 2014.

Davis has an undergraduate degree in government from Smith College in Massachusetts and holds a Master of Public Administration degree in urban management from Arizona State University.

Marr, the only in-house finalist for the open position, has worked for Fort Collins for seven years. He’s held positions including assistant city manager, deputy director of information and employee services, and senior policy and project manager.

He has an undergraduate degree in economics and political science from Colorado State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kansas.

Nutt, the only finalist not currently working in the area, has worked in Santa Rosa, California, for seven years and has served as assistant city manager, acting director of recreation and parks, and director of transportation and public works there. Prior to his time in Santa Rosa, he worked for Sonoma County and the city of Novato, both in California.

Nutt has a degree in civil engineering from Santa Clara University and is a licensed professional engineer in both civil engineering and traffic engineering.
