Update: Fort Collins arrest 1 in hit-and-run crash that injured cyclist

Update, 9:30 p.m. June 24: A suspect has been identified and arrested in this case, Fort Collins police announced.

The person, whom the Coloradoan is not naming because we do not plan to follow the case, was arrested June 24 and booked into the Larimer County Jail, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services. The person was issued a $1,000 cash bond, according to police, and was not listed as an inmate in the Larimer County Jail's online inmate search as of June 25.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault (reckless driving with serious bodily injury), a class 5 felony; failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident, a class 4 felony; reckless endangerment, a class 2 misdemeanor; and careless driving impacting a vulnerable road user, a class 1 traffic misdemeanor.

Update, 6:10 p.m. May 29: Police have located the truck they say was involved in Friday's hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a cyclist, according to a Sunday evening news release.

Fort Collins Police Services credited a citizen for alerting them after seeing the gray Nissan Titan, which was parked at City Park in Fort Collins, according to the release. The individual had seen the vehicle's description in a Colorado Bureau of Investigation Medina Alert that was issued at Fort Collins Police Services' request.

No further information on the ongoing investigation into the crash was released.

Original story, May 28: Fort Collins police are looking for information about a pickup truck they say was involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a cyclist Friday.

The crash, which happened just north of Mountain Vista Drive on the Interstate 25 Northeast Frontage Road, was reported to police about 8:19 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services.

Police say a 35-year-old male cyclist was struck by the pickup truck and sustained serious injuries, prompting the Fort Collins Police Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling, or CRASH, Team to investigate. The man was taken to an area hospital, according to police.

The truck, which left the scene, is believed to be a gray or silver four-door Nissan Titan with a temporary license plate, according to details obtained through the investigation. Police say it's missing its front passenger side mirror and could have other damage on the front passenger side.
