Fort Myers man, 53, seriously injured after Friday morning hit-and-run

A 53-year-old Fort Myers man suffered serious injuries after a car struck him and fled, troopers said.

The crash happened along Palm Beach Boulevard, near Miramar Road, in Tice, around 7:20 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The car was traveling west on Palm Beach Boulevard, in the left turn lane, approaching Miramar Road, as the pedestrian crossed east at the intersection.

The car struck the pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The driver fled, troopers said.

Troopers say he was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows and a missing right rear hubcap.

Troopers urge anyone with information regarding the car's whereabouts to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

Tipsters may also be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000 in cash if their tip leads to an arrest.
