Fort Myers man gets 18-year state prison sentence for drug trafficking, other offenses

Prince Anthony Davis, 40,  of Fort Myers, arrested in 2020 on drug trafficking charges, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

On Dec. 15, 2020, Davis sold a trafficking amount of fentanyl to an undercover Fort Myers police officer by placing the drugs in a car to be retrieved for cash, then returning to get the money.

Davis then sold drugs to another undercover officer outside of his business, a clothing store on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Two days later, the Fort Myers police Vice Narcotics Unit and SWAT Team, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, served a search warrant on the defendant’s Fort Myers business.

They found a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl under the counter, as well as an assault rifle and a magazine for the weapon.

Davis was charged with (All sentences listed are to be served concurrently).

• Trafficking in illegal drugs, four grams or more (fentanyl): 18 years

• Sale of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of public housing:15 years

• Possession of fentanyl with intent to sell within 1,000 ft. of Public Housing: 15 years

• Possession of a place with knowledge of trafficking, sale, or manufacturing: 15 years

• Trafficking in amphetamine: 18 years

• Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon: 15 years

• Trafficking in fentanyl: 18 years

• Possession of a controlled substance: 5 years

Two other men arrested with Davis, were Roosevelt Jackson, 50, of Fort Myers, and Austin Petersen Jr.

Jackson received two 55-month state prison sentences, to run concurrent, and credited with 294 days served. Austin's charges were filed as not prosecuted by the state attorney's office.
