Fort Smith Little Theater Christmas show revisits the days of radio past

Gather around the radio for holiday songs of yesterday, and live theater in Fort Smith.

The Christmas crooners, carolers and specials that aired on radio are part of the dramatic live theater performance for Fort Smith Little Theater this season, and the show is the second edition.

"An Old Time Radio Christmas II" will conjure up the images of fireplaces and the music from the radio.

According to organizers, the 2022 show is an updated version of the original production "An Old Time Radio Christmas" staged at the Fort Smith theater in 2017.

Fort Smith Little Theater is celebrating their 75th year in 2022.

Nancy Blochberger said the final show of the year caps off a great run in the anniversary year.

The story for the play starts as a 1970s radio station broadcasts a nostalgic program recreating the 1950s era when many of America’s most popular Christmas songs were created and enjoyed.

After a three-year hiatus, Jill Moody-Ledbetter is back in the Director’s chair to bring us this merry, family-friendly, fun-filled show packed with songs, commercials, comedy readings, and Christmas stories of a much simpler time. This show will include several children participating as cast members, as well as some veteran theater members, along with a number of other very talented actors and actresses.

“Grab your friends and family and join us for a very special night full of merriment, laughter, and music. Let’s leave the shopping and wrapping behind and head back to the good ole days for some old-fashioned Christmas joy!” Moody-Ledbetter states.

"An Old Time Radio Christmas II" performances are scheduled for Thursday, December 8th through Saturday, December 10th.

Show time is 7:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:45 p.m. For this production, there will be no reserved seats and no advanced ticketing. Tickets are $7 per person at the door, 401 N. 6 Street.
