Fort Smith under flood advisory and watch

A flood advisory was issued for Fort Smith until 4 p.m. and a flood watch issued until 9 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported.

Crawford, Franklin, Madison and Sebastian counties including Fort Smith in western Arkansas were under the advisory due to the possibility of flooding in low-lying places.

Antlers, Berryville, Charleston, Clayton, Eureka Springs, Hugo, Huntsville, Ozark and Wilburton were cities in Arkansas and Oklahoma under the watch until 9 p.m.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall was a threat, the National Weather Service reports.

The watch includes Adair, Haskell, Le Flore and Sequoyah counties in Oklahoma.

A flash flooding warning was issued Wednesday afternoon for areas southeast of Fort Smith east toward Russellville. Western Yell, Logan, northwest Montgomery, northern Polk and Scott counties were under a flash flood watch until 2 p.m., the national weather service reported.
