Fort Walton Beach restaurant makes Yelp's Top 100 in Florida list for 2023

Yelp released its Top 100 Florida restaurants list recently, with Fort Walton Beach’s popular Stewby’s Seafood placing No. 43.

The restaurant features locally sourced fish, farm-to-table ingredients, open fish and vegetable market, and three locations.

Here's what we know:

Where is it?

Stewby’s has three locations:

● 4120 S. Serdon Blvd, Crestview

● 235 Santa Rosa Blvd., Okaloosa Island

● 427 Racetrack Road NW, Fort Walton Beach

Safe dining: Four Okaloosa County restaurants get high-priority violations, 18 ace inspections

Just down the road: Destin restaurant named one of the Top 100 in Florida by Yelp

How long has Stewby's been around?

It has been 11 years since they opened the first location in Fort Walton Beach.

Who is the owner?

Stewart Taylor started the restaurant after learning the business from his dad, who owned Sammy’s Oyster House.

What’s the signature dish?

Everything, really. All items on the menu (except for the chunky Bleu Cheese dressing) are grown and made in-house: the veggies, the sides, the coleslaw, even the spices.

Fresh fish?

Oh yes. "The fish come straight from the docks in Destin and other neighboring counties," the Stewby's website says. "The oysters are always fresh shucked from Bon Secour Fisheries in Alabama with an occasional supply from Apalachicola Florida. The shrimp are also from Bon Secour and when available right here from our very own Choctawhatchee Bay."
