Here are 50 Fort Worth-area high school softball players to watch out for this UIL season

The UIL softball season is underway, and there are many Fort Worth-area players to keep tabs on.

Here are some of the best players in the Fort Worth area that were nominated as players to watch by coaches. You’ll want to check these players out ahead of playoff season.

Burleson Centennial

Bailey Lindemuth, P/SS/3B, Sr. - Spartan head coach Natalie Mullin said Lindemuth, a Texas Tech commit, throws all of her pitches for strikes and has great command and a fastball that averages 66 mph. In the 2023 season, Lindemuth hit .567 and was named the District 8-5A Most Valuable Player. In her first 15 at bats of the 2024 season, she hit .733. Mullin said she is expected to the following school records: career hits, career runs, career RBIs and career games played.

Liv Martin, LF, Sr. - Martin is having a breakout year as a senior, and Mullin said she had a strong offensive start to the season. Mullin added that she is the leader of the outfield with a strong arm and good coverage.

Madelyn Hickey, C/1B/3B, Jr. - Hickey has had a fantastic start to the season offensively, and has shown an excellent ability to reach base safely. Mullin said she is a dynamic leader on and off the field and that the program has high hopes for her in a significant role. Hickey is the starting catcher, and Mullin says she “crushes the ball.”

Madison Haynes, SS/CF, Jr. - Haynes made the all-district second team in her freshman and sophomore seasons. She has a knack for getting on base, serving as Centennial’s lead off hitter.

Ava Ellis, P/CF/RF/1B, Fr. - Mullin said Ellis is entering the program as a freshman with extremely high expectations. She added that she has showcased great abilities both behind the plate and from the mound. Mullin also called her a vocal leader.

Richland

Jacey Lees, P, Sr. - Lees is an experienced pitcher for the Royals with a whopping 566 career strikeouts. Her ERA in 2023 was 1.91 in 215 innings pitched. As a hitter she tallied an impressive .330 batting average with 35 hits, 23 singles, nine doubles and 18 RBIs. Lees was named the District 7-5A Most Valuable Player, and head coach Stephanie Graham considers her to be the leading pitcher in the area.

Rachet Houston, CF, Sr. - Houston is a speedy left handed slap hitter. She recorded a .313 batting average with 21 hits and 16 stolen bases.

Stacy Jennings, P/1B, Fr. - Jennings is in her freshman year with the Royals and has already made an impact. She averages 62 mph on her pitches and tops out at 65 mph while moving the ball effectively, according to Graham. She already has a home run and is expected to hit for power.

Keller Timber Creek

Isabella Bojkovic, MIF, Sr. - Bojkovic is an experienced senior that was a first team all-district player in the 2023 season. She is committed to Tarleton State and head coach Sheila Sterling said she is an outstanding hitter with good power.

Taylor Serio, P, Sr. - Serio, a Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College commit, throws a great curveball and rise ball, according to Sterling. Her pitches fall in the 58 to 60 mph range. Sterling said she keeps hitters’ eyes moving up and down.

Lake Worth

Katelyn Pahlen, SS/2B, Jr. - Pahlen put together an impressive .597 batting average and tallied 25 RBIs in 2023 en route to being named first team all-district. She broke Lake Worth’s single season stolen base record in her freshman season and is expected to break the career record in the 2024 season. Head coach Justin Pinson said she is a very fluid defender with a strong arm and great mechanics.

Keller

Sadie Beck, P, Sr. - Beck is one of Keller’s most consistent and experienced players. She is committed to Tarleton State. In 2023 she posted a strong 1.75 ERA.

Sydona Meiser, 1B, Soph. - Meiser is an up and coming player to watch on the Indian’s roster. She thrived as a freshman, leading the team with an impressive .392 batting average.

Mackenna Jackson, SS, Soph. - Jackson is another young player to keep an eye on. She finished second on the roster with five home runs last season, and she also recorded 50 hits. Jackson led the team with 43 RBIs.

Kaiya Fabela, C, Jr. - Fabela led the Indians with eight home runs last season, and she is committed to play at the next level at BYU. She led the team with a .715 slugging percentage and also had a strong .462 on base percentage.

Carley Genzer, 2B, Jr. - Genzer, a Bryant commit, tallied 24 hits and 24 RBIs in her sophomore season. Look for her to improve with more experience during her junior season.

Brewer

Karlie Landrum, 1B/P, Sr. - Landrum was a force in the 2023 season, tallying a .421 batting average with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs. Landrum, a UT-Tyler commit, is a first team all-district player.

Aleana Urias, OF, Jr. - Urias put together a stellar sophomore year, recording a .394 batting average and a .484 on base percentage. She tallied 43 hits and 33 runs en route to being named to an all-district first team/

Parker Pride, IF, Jr. - Pride played a sizable role for the Bears as a sophomore, hitting four home runs and 19 RBIs. She had 24 runs and a .291 batting average. Pride was named to the all-district second team.

Kamren Pride, IF, Soph. - As a freshman, Pride tallied a .253 batting average with seven doubles. She got off to a fantastic start in her sophomore year, hitting .538 in the team’s first five games.

Mia Serrato, IF, Sr. - Serrato is entering her senior season with the Bears. In 2023, she recorded a .278 batting average and had 17 RBIs. Serrato is a former district Newcomer of the Year award recipient.

Nolan Catholic

Emily Johnston, MIF/P, Sr. - Johnston was named the TAPPS District 1-6A Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, tallying an impressive .478 batting average with 55 hits and eight home runs. According to head coach Alan Nagid, Johnston is a good defender and pitcher with the ability to throw a fastball, drop ball, screwball and change-up.

Sophia Shuff, C/1B/3B, Sr. - Nagid said Shuff demands respect, considering her abilities and true leadership. She recorded a .355 batting average and hit two home runs last season, one of which was a walk off grand slam against district rival John Paul II. Shuff, a Hendrix College commit, is a versatile defender with the ability to play multiple positions around the infield.

Arlington Heights

Jasmine Martinez, INF, Sr. - Martinez recorded an absurd .583 batting average in the 2023 season for the Yellowjackets, tallying four triples, a home run and 13 stolen bases. According to head coach Michael Townsend, she is a team leader.

Arlington Martin

Izabell “Izzy” Astran, 3B/C, Sr. - Astran was an all-district member in 2023, tallying a .352 batting average with seven home runs and 27 RBIs. Through the first eight games in 2024, she hit six home runs. Astran is committed to Western College. Head coach John Holton said she is a strong but silent leader who leads by example.

Samantha “Sammie” Scott, P/OF, Jr. - Scott was also an all-district member in 2023, securing 10 wins and 116 strikeouts. She has a fastball, screwball and drop ball in the low 60s and a change up in the 47 to 49 mph range. Scott missed the entirety of her freshman season and part of her sophomore season. Keep an eye on her to make a jump this year.

Grapevine

Raegan Stanley, 3B, Fr. - Stanley is entering her high school athletic career and is a quick in the corner and knowledgable, according to head coach Angelina Curtis.

Gisele Rayngay, SS/UTIL, Jr. - Rayngay will continue her athletic career at Tarleton State. She thrives in many aspects for the Mustangs, and will also work as a pitcher this year.

Gracie Kelley, CF, Soph. - Curits says she is a speedy outfielder that also has a big bat.

Isabella Vaquera, OF, Jr. - Curtis said she has a big arm and bat. She is a newcomer to the team, and is looking to make an immediate impact.

Keller Central

Savannah Tatum, 3B/1B, Soph. - Tatum was a first team all-district player in 2023, posting a .326 batting average and a .398 on base percentage.

Marilyn Korywchak, OF, Jr. - Korywchak secured a second team all-district spot as a sophomore, hitting .308 and having a .371 on base percentage.

Paige Childers, 3B/SS, Fr. - Childers may be a freshman, but is expected to be a significant contributor to the Chargers in the left side of the infield.

Azle

Kaylee Parrish, SS, Sr. - Parrish is a Hardin Simmons commit. She is a three year varsity starter with loads of experience. Parrish is excellent in the field and was named to an all-district second team last season.

Torrie Johnson, C, Sr. - Johnson, a North Central Texas College commit, has been a force for Azle, and is a two time all-district catcher of the year. Through the first six games of the season she tallied an impressive .467 on base percentage.

Brandie Phillips, CF, Sr. - Phillips got off to a fast start in the team’s first six games, hitting .500 and recording two triples. She was a second team all-district member and is looking to build on the success.

Allison Smith, UTIL, Sr. - Smith was a second team all-district player last season, and is looking to finish her high school softball career on a strong note. She gives Azle versatillity as a utility player.

Paschal

Samantha Garcia, C, Sr. - Garcia had a phenomenal junior season, batting .521 and tallying 11 home runs and 31 RBIs. She was named the District 3-6A Catcher of the Year

Breanna Rodriguez, SS, Sr. - Rodriguez was an offensive machine in 2023, hitting .457 and recording eight home runs. She was named the District 3-6A Offensive Player of the Year.

Victoria Hultgren, CF, Soph. - Hultgreen was a machine in district play for Paschal, recording a .523 batting average during that stretch. She made the District 3-6A first team as a freshman, and is looking to build off the success in her sophomore season.

Cedes Martinez, CF, Jr. - Martinez put together a season batting average of .429 on the way to being named to the District 3-6A first team.

Katlyn Teran, LF, Jr. - Teran rounded things out for the Panthers, recording a solid .307 batting average in the 2023 season. She was named to the all-district second team.

Aledo

Brynlee Gonzales, P, Sr. - Gonzales is set to be a key contributor on the mound for the Bearcats and is committed to Texas Tech.

Taylor McKean, P, Jr. - McKean is committed to Tarleton and is expected to have a significant role as a junior pitcher. On Saturday she tallied seven strikeouts in five innings of work.

Addie Perry, OF, Jr. - Perry is committed to North Texas. JR outfielder verbally committed to Univ of N Texas. On Saturday she went two for three with an RBI.
