Fort Worth’s Barry Corbin to host screening of 1983 film ‘WarGames’ at Stockyards theater

“Yellowstone” and “Lonesome Dove” actor Barry Corbin is hosting a screening of the 1983 film “WarGames” right here in Fort Worth. Corbin played the character General Beringer in the movie alongside Matthew Broderick.

Corbin, 82, has long been a mainstay in both movies and television. Known for his western roles, Corbin has also appeared in television shows such as “Northern Exposure”, “One Tree Hill” and most recently in Taylor Sheridan’s “Tulsa King”.

The Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater is hosting the “WarGames” screening with Corbin and his wife, Jo, emceeing the event. The aptly titled “Double Date Movie Night” is at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Tickets are on sale now and cost $15 per person, which includes a chance to meet the Corbins.

“WarGames” follows a young man, played by Broderick, as he discovers a backdoor into a military computer “in which reality is confused with game-playing, possibly starting World War III.” The movie stars Broderick, Ally Sheedy, John Wood, Dabney Coleman and Corbin.

Corbin was born in Lamesa, nearly 300 miles west of Fort Worth. Besides acting in moviesand television, Corbin was the voice in promos for Fort Worth’s 99.5 The Wolf for nearly two decades.

The screen legend now resides in Fort Worth, but is still busy as ever with several projects on the horizon, including director Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
