Fort Worth’s Hulen Mall announces one-day restriction on unaccompanied minors

Hulen Mall customers younger than 17 must have a parent or guardian with them from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Saturday, the mall announced on its Facebook page.

The mall told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA that the rule is only for Saturday and is not permanent.

“Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our guests, tenants and everyone who visits the mall,” the mall said. “We have a robust security program in place that we are constantly evaluating, and the implementation of PGR is just one example of this process. The PGR program is not permanent, it is set to occur only from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today, Saturday, January 28th.”

Mall officials told WFAA they were working closely with Fort Worth police following a recent threat of disruptive, unsupervised minors at the mall.

The one-day restriction comes a little more than a month after the mall was shut down because of a man with a gun at the shopping center.

On Christmas Eve, police said a man who was taking cellphone photos of women in a bathroom and, when confronted by one of the women and a man, pulled a handgun. The mall was swarmed with police and shut down early that day.
