Fort Worth’s All-Western Stock Show Parade canceled due to strong winds expected Saturday

Fort Worth’s All-Western Stock Show Parade, which was scheduled for Saturday morning, has been canceled as strong wings are expected to hit the area, officials said.

Parts of North Texas, including Tarrant County, are under a wind advisory, starting around 9 p.m. Friday into Saturday evening around 6 p.m. The strong winds are expected to sustain gusts between 25 to 35 mph with some winds reaching up to 50 mph near downtown Fort Worth.

Officials from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and organizers with the Stock Show & Rodeo canceled the parade in consideration of “the safety risk to spectators and participants.”

“The safety of our guests is always top of mind for us and we never make these decisions lightly,” said Stock Show President and General Manager Bradford S. Barnes. “For the sake of everyone — participants including horses and guests — we firmly believe this is the best decision from a safety standpoint.”

Other activities or events regarding the Stock Show or rodeo are scheduled to continue as planned.

Residents who purchased tickets for reserved seating will be refunded through Ticketmaster.
