Fortunoff Backyard Store coming to Somerset Shopping Center in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER – Fortunoff Backyard Store, a patio/outdoor furniture and accessories retailer, is opening a new location at Somerset Shopping Center in the township on April 7.

Fortunoff Backyard Store will take over the space formerly occupied by Pier 1 Imports at the 219,000-square-foot shopping center at the junction of Route 202/206 and Route 28.

There are more than two dozen Fortunoff Backyard Store locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Among its NJ locations are Metuchen, Springfield and Paramus.

Fortunoff Backyard Store offers an assortment of higher-end outdoor and patio furniture, including Adirondack chairs, benches, sofas, ottomans, lounge sets and hanging furniture, along with accessories such as cushions, pillows and umbrellas. Other items include fire pits, patio heaters and pool accessories. Backyard specialists are on hand to offer design advice and expertise.

There are five units currently available for lease at Somerset Shopping Center. Remaining space availabilities at Somerset Shopping Center range from 3,400 square feet to 22,000 square feet.

North Plainfield-based commercial real estate services firm Levin Management Corporation (LMC) secured the 9,400-square-foot commitment as exclusive leasing and managing agent.

LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Fernandez-Kelty arranged the transaction of the long-term lease on behalf of the landlord; Jake Frantzman of RIPCO Real Estate represented the tenant.

"The store’s fitout for the prior tenant suited Fortunoff’s needs, so they essentially can move right in without major changes," said Fernandez-Kelty in a statement. "They do plan a full renovation of the space later in the year."

The Fortunoff Backyard Store will be at 385 Route 202. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 908-886-0001.

Somerset Shopping Center features a mix of retailers, restaurants and service providers including Christmas Tree Shops, Barnes & Noble, Gap, Pearl Vision, Norman’s Hallmark, Pupcakes and Pawstries Barkery and Shoppe, Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, Rite Aid, TGI Fridays and Men’s Wearhouse, among others.
